A star icon on the world map represents a city. the
icon means the city not observing the DST rule, while 
city does; and the 
icon indicates the city has none integer time offset in hour from prime meridian.
a particular case is Lord Hawe Island 
(Australia), she has 10:30 time offset and go ahead 0.5 hour when DST is on.
Click the star you want, a city tag appears, it shows the local time. to get more or to convert time, click the icon again or click on the tag, a city board being shown with some brief on it, the board can be moved.
To find what time while the city is the world are, just click the convert time 
icon,
then select an hour radio and click 
to fire up. You can change the date by click on calendar 
icon.
DST session
In this case, we set New York at 12:00 noon July 10 2007. meanwhile, London is 5:00 pm, New Delhi 9:30 am, Tokyo 01:00 am July 11 2007. Notice! the DST session of New York (indeed, North America) is from 2:00 am March 11 to 0:00 am November 25 on standard time. Click any spider
to resume normal clocking.
When the mouse over a clock on bottom, the time zone Radar highlights the cities in the very time zone, drag the clock to sling the wall clock. Then open the list and select a city.
If a clock has not a city name on, it shows rather the standard time than the local time, because of DST rules or time offset.
Notice! a time zone has only one wall clock.
Simplly input one letter, a list shows cities and countries matched.
You can select one radio to filter them.
A Sun Clock is always on the world map, it refreshs every 15 seconds. The edege of shadow is just a sine curve, that is not exactly true.
Click the Sun, a small globe sun clock appears. The sloar time at the mean meridain of the very time zone shown.
In right figure, while the the GMT time (standard time on GMT 0) is 8:31 am the GMT -4 is 4:31 am, is also the solar time at -60°0'0"[15°x(-4)] longitude.
This time24zone is a Flash ActionScript2 RIA (Rich Internet Application), it detects DST and time offset automatically. The program enables you to find/convert cities' time around the world; and get DST sessions on variant years quickly and easily; it also allows you to sling wall clocks with cities' name on. The time shown in time24zone are all dynamically, updating in 5 seconds (local wall clock 1 seconds), and the sun clock 15 seconds, it means the Sun moves for every 15 seconds.

The Earth is geometrically subdivided from the Prime Meridain (meridain goes through Greenwich) into 24 (360°/15°) wedge-shaped sections, each section generally thought as a standard time zone. The origin section spans longitude -7.5° to +7.5° is set as time zone GMT 0, and GMT +01:00 spans +7.5° to +22.5° as GMT -01:00 spans -7.5° to -22.5° and so on. This time system "GMT" (Greenwich Mean Time) is now often used to refer to Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) (UTC is an atomic time standard indeed) .
The borders of time zones practically do not always coincide with meridians, they may follow political or geographical boundaries, for example India all in one time zone GMT +5:30. Most time zones are exactly one hour apart .
hours and minutes offsets from Greenwich Mean Time (or UTC) . A time zone offset are usually an integer in hours and zero in minutes. For example, Newfoundland adopt GMT -3:00, Japan GTM +9:00, New York GMT -5:00; meanwhile, some places such as Iran adopt GMT +3:30, India GMT +5:30, Nepal GMT +5:45 and Myanmar (Burma) GMT +6:30. In Australia, Northern Territory/Darwin and South Australia/Adelaide and New South Wales adopt GMT +9:30 and Lord Howe Island GMT +10:30 .
Places on the same time zone may have different local time because of the DST (Daylight Saving time). DST is a rule that defines the DST's session, if a place DST is in use, the clock add an hour (but an half in Hawke island Autralia) to the local time .
